Tang Jifu The University Campus Novel Study

Tang Jifu is a distinguished novelist. Meanwhile, he has spent many years inteaching literature in the university. These experiences made him start to think aboutthe spirit state of those intellectuals. Therefore, it means what we can find in hiscollections of campus novel is not only stories, but also his deeply thought on thefate of modern Chinese intellectuals. So, the central propose of this thesis is fordiscussing the concept of Tang's works on campus novels and the change of hiswriting styles in different periods. Firstly, it shows Tang's different periods onwritings and how he changed his concept about literature in the beginning part.Secondly, throughout analyzing many kinds of intellectuals showed in Tang's novels,explaining his thought about the destiny of modern Chinese intellectuals, especiallythose who work for the university. Finally, discussing the characteristic of Tang's artand the limit of his works.
