Ancient Chinese poetry gestated in the Foreqin and Han Dynasties, which was formed in Weijin and Nanbeichao Dynasties, the most flourishing was in the Tang and Song dynasties. As a new stage of development of ancient landscape poetry, Song landscape poetry had a great development and change, which was obviously closely related with the conditions of the Song's politic, economic and culture.Song landscape poetry expressed strong regional cultural color. Being two parts of regional culture, the natural geographical environment affected the Song landscape poetry, mainly by landscape materials, artistic conception of landscape and style of landscape.And,the humanistic geographical environment, largely through something which was full of geographical colors,such as literary tradition,legends, historical feelings, customs and habits,and so on.Being affected by the culture of the times,which was prosperous and unique,particularly by Lixue and Chanxue,Song landscape poetry implicated profound spiritual and cultural connotations.Among them, Tiwu and Shangyi were the two most important aspects.The former was a process from quietly observing landscape for comprehenging principle,to throwing emotion into landscape for showing principle.The latter was largely reflected through sovereignty landscape constitution,personality landscape character and cultural landscape images.As the three most important artistic features of Song landscape poetry, philosophical interest,vivid method and painting had been expressed very ingeniously.Philosophical interest mainly seeked the perfect combination of deep philosophy and poetic interest,which had a lot of performance in the landscape poems of Song's Lixuejia and writers.Vivid method included"vivid method in mind"and"vivid method on paper",and embodied specifically through some respects of landscape poetry writing, such as, made of thinking, means of expression, ways to grasp,style of language,and so on.Painting mainly covered three respects,range of subjects, performance skills and artistic conception creating.They not only demonstrated the Songs'unique art forms and aesthetic inclination idea, but also reflected the broad cultural background of the Song.
