The earliest Buddhism was introduced into our country in the year of2nd BC during the Western Dynasty from India. In the era of Wei, Jin andSouthern-Northern Dynasties, Buddhism was widely disseminated andunprecedentedly developed in China.The YuanRong thinking (compatibility or harmonious concept) ofChinese Buddhist philosophy was created by the master of Ren Zhi of Rooftopschool, otherwise flourished bythe HuaYan school that most stressed theYuanRong thinking in all the schools of Buddhism. Compatibility was themethodology to observe and understand the world, the general principleof dealing with all the problems and also the ideal state of practice toachieve. Compatibility intended for a perfect gathering and no obstacles.As a method, it meant that everything could not only maintain the originalnature, but also interactively fused without contradictions andconflicts.Later Buddhism was spread to the Korea (today's North Korea and SouthKorea). And it was Koguryo (in the North of Korea) first introducedBuddhism to Korea during the three axes, then it was imported to BaiJiand Silla. In the period of Silla Dynasty, most of Chinese Buddhist sectsor schools were imported to the Republic of Korea after the Silla Dynastyhad unified the three countries and were greatly developed. This openeda era of prosperity of Korean Buddhism. There were a lot of famous Buddhisttheoreticians who wrote a lot of papers and books, of which Wonhyo's andUichon's Buddhist Thoughts were best affected. Wonhyo's 'Harmony andContention' theory, which laid the theoretical foundation for creatingKorean HuaYan school with national characteristics. Uichon was one of therepresentative figures of ancient Korean Buddhist philosophy'scompatibility concept. Although the thoughts of Wonhyo and Uichon camefrom China, with the Chinese thoughts of Buddhist philosophy shared thesame strains, it had lots of innovation and development. Their Buddhistthoughts not only had lofty status in Korea, but also had importantinfluence upon Chinese Buddhist philosophic thoughts, greatly promotedthe development of Chinese Buddhism. At present, along with the rapid development of the society-economy,science-technology and culture, many new things came into being at thebeginning of 21st century, which has made Human being rapidly enter theera of information and network. And this will undoubtedly have good orbad influences on human being, meanwhile, it also means that the humanbeing will face more crises and challenges come from the natural worldand human society. Peace and development are still the two major themesin current world ,and the world's peace and stability are the urgentproblems which need to be concerned and solved. The YuanRong thinkingof Chinese and Korean Buddhist philosophies can be considered as a moderninterpretation for the advancing with the times .This has profoundpractical significance for resolving contradictions and conflicts, thepeaceful coexistence of international community, peaceful reunificationof the country, natural and human being's coordinated development issuesand so on.The purpose of this paper is to give a detailed inspection for theYuanRong thinking of Buddhist philosophy ,from which not only excavatsout the role of YuanRong thinking in society during the historicaldevelopment of Chinese and Korean Buddhism and provides the constructionof harmonious society in current world a reference.The main innovations:①Through studying the YuanRong thinking of Buddhist philosophy,summarize the formation and historical role of YuanRong thinking in thehistory of Chinese Buddhist development.②Through studying the transmission of Korean Buddhism, sum up thecommunication of YuanRong thinking of Chinese and Korean Buddhistphilosophies in the history and the role in exchanges and peacefulcoexistence between the two countries.③Summarize the practical significance of YuanRong thinking ofBuddhist philosophy in today's society.
