Yang Xiong, whose works are plentiful and have great influence, isone of the noble masters in Fu in the joint of Western and Eastern Dynasties. He andSima Xiangru are called two precious jades in the literature of the Western Han Dynasty.Compared with the Pre-Qin Dynasty ,society, politics and the group of scholars allchanged greatly in Han Dynasty ,the evolution of scholar's thoughts, the rise or fall oftheir social status, and the change of their mentality also influenced their literarycreation directly or indirectly on this important historical process. Which , furthermore, have a significant influence on the ancient Chinese literature. As one of the majorwriters, Yang Xiong's lifestyle and experiences also have great influence on histhoughts and Fu. From then on, scholars in Chinese history absorbed his essence fortheir works through continuous interpretative reading of Yang Xiong's literary worksand thinking left by him. Owing to this, this paper tries to find the inheritance andchange in his Fu works and reveal the special significance in ancient Chinese literatureby research on Yang Xiong and his times. This paper consists of three chaptersChapter i Comparison between Yang Xiong and Sima XiangruSima Xiangru and Yang Xiong are two great Fu writers appeared one after anotherin the Eastern Han. With their joint efforts, they worked hard together to make greatcontribution to Fu's formation and patterning. However, Sima Xiangru and Yang Xiongdivided the prosperity and decline of the Western Han Dynasty. Different times, experiences and scholarship made their works take on different style .Inherited fromSima Xiangru, Yang Xiong also injected some new changes, which embodied thesidentity of the unified regime of scholars in the joint of Western and Eastern dynasties. And they began to realize the challenge faced by themselves .Rational consciousnessand thoughts germinatedChapter ii Building of personality. The scholars in Western Han Dynasty were rather dissatisfied with their status, such as Sima Xiangru, Sima Qian, Dong Fangshuo, Mei Gao, Dong Zhongshu, YangXiong. However, based on the actual situation studying them, although they didn't havehigh social status, their status are not so low as they said .The reason why theycomplained about the Scholars with unrecognized talent was that they took the scholarsin Previous Qin-dynasty for their example .Age changed e(?)sily, thus the age in whichthe emperor was their teachers and friends was gone. Under the unitive Kaiser Dom, on the one hand, there was a big gap between their situations and expectations. On theother Hand, their personalities were compressed, which resulted in their alienation fromthe regime. Individual consciousness gradually awakened. From composing Fu toregretting making Fu, Yang Xiong's thoughts greatly changed. And this change had aneffect on his Fu-making. He began to pay attention to himself with metaphysics fromguard and introverted sprit, which led to the thoughts of Xuanjing, showing newchanges in literary creation.Chapter iii Towards value of times of the thoughts of XuanjingThe scholars in Han Dynasty, whose rational thoughts started to develop andwhose metaphysical ration gradually exposed, identified with the unitive kaiserdom. After the middle of Eastern Han Dynasty, the scholars, for example, Zhang Hengobviously appeared to be eager for profoundity.UP to the late Han Dynasty, twomovements of striking groupings speeded up the awakening of the scholars. Which YuYingshi positioned historical group consciousness. Most of scholars in the Wei and JinDynasties found it difficult to be worldly wise.To make themselves safe, they talkedabout metaphysics and analyzed principles. Tao Yuanming in the Eastern Jin Dynastycompletely solved the relationship between the individuals and the groups and found thefinal spiritual home for the scholars. This essay attempts to investigate relationshipbetween Yang Xiong's Fu works and thoughts and the scholars of this time to reveal thevalue of times.
