Silk Chu Family Literature Study

Zhu family in Xiushui Area was a distinguished culture group in the south of the Yangtze River in Ming and Qing dynasty.From the end of Ming dynasty to the beginning of Qing dynasty,famous litterateurs sprang unceasingly from this family and formed a family group of literary authors which were represented by Zhu Yizun,Zhu Yijue,Zhu Kuntian and Zhu Xiudu.Numerous remarkable literary works written by them were great achievements.Based on limited research achievements,the dissertation makes up the involving materials, studies the literary works of the Zhu family, and draws the outline of the development of literary works of the Zhu family.The dissertation can be divided into 4 chapters,which introduces the outstanding members, the literary achievements and characters,and the social activities in the south of the Yangtze River involving this family.Chapter 1 profiles the Zhu family members and their literary works,and illustrates the reasons why the Zhu family could arise and come to the top in the views of the interior and exterior factors,such as the historical context, regional culture, family traditions and cultural education. Chapter 2 studies cases involving Zhu Yizun,the outstanding representative of the family,Zhu Yijue and Zhu Kuntian.This Chapter firstly expounds Zhu Yizun's life and focuses on the evolvement of his literary works and opinions.Secondly, giving a highlight to Zhu Yizun's writing style of subjectivism and Zhu Kuntian's writing style emphasizing poor and bitter,this Chapter reveals their shift from focus on exterior world to interior spirit. Chapter 3 discusses the common character of the literary works of Zhu family,which is the combination of knowledge and sense.In addition,this part illustrates the thread of their thoughts from worshipping the writing styles in Tang dynasty to those in Song dynasty. Chapter 4 explores the connection between the Zhu family and local culture and introduces this family members' actions in Jiaxing Area and their contribution to local culture.Two tables are attached to the dissertation,including the brief list of this family members and Poetries on Mandarin-Ducks Lake.
