Mao Yuan Instrument

Mao Yuanyi is a militarist and litterateur in late Ming dynasty. He had written lots of work during his lifetime, which cover all four categories of Confucian classics, history, ideological trend and private works. He compiled the military magnum opus Wubeizhi and was quickly renowned for his knowledge in this field. He had written nearly a thousand volumes of poems, articles, unofficial history and miscellanea, which are of great documentary and historical value nowadays. His ideology and rough life experience is a reflection of both the society and folkway of the late Ming dynasty. Through the analysis of his life, social association, works and poetry writing, this thesis tries to review deeply into both his own self and his works, thus giving a comprehensive understanding of Mao Yuanyi.
