Study Of The Theory Of Network Ethics

Since its availability to the public in China at 1995, the internet has been amazingly developed during the last twelve years. The development of internet has two sides on the society. It promotes the communication among people, making their lives more comfortable and convenience, and even changing their ways of living. Some predict the society will be connected by the network. On the other hand, the internet brought a series of social problems such as internet pornography, hackers and virus, internet addiction and virtual relationships.The research about internet ethics appeared under this background. The first article using internet ethics as a keyword in China was published at 1997. In the following decade, the research on this topic has been promoted both on quality and on quantity as the developing of internet. Here, I focus on the research of internet ethics during this decade. This thesis is constructed by the following sections. I start from analyzing the theoretical conception and application of internet ethics, followed by the time line and characteristic of the research on internet ethics. The theoretical aspect is constituted by the conception of internet ethics, the subjects of the research and the principles of constructing internet ethics. On the application view, I choose the internet crime and internet copyrights as two important samples. At last, I discuss the merits and flaws of the research on internet ethics during the last decade, providing intriguing ideas for further research to construct a safe and harmonic internet environment.
