Zhou sicong is a representative painter of Chinese painting circle in Chinese new period and a centralizing force within the reform of Chinese painting. Her artistic achievement obtains widespread identification and praise from the circle of fine arts, and has profound influence on the development of the later Chinese fine arts. The study of Zhou sicong's artistic thought in painting is helpful not only to hackle the skeleton of development of modern Chinese painting, but also to show the growth rules of successful artist and guide the young artists to inherit the outstanding achievements and advance on the road of art constantly.In this paper the gradation study of every stage of Zhou sicong since she engaged in art is taken. This paper draws a conclusion through the artistic analysis of representive paints in every stage, and takes a study from the aspects of artistic style and artistic thought. Zhou sicong began to like painting during early youth, and studied in the Middle School attached to CAFA and CAFA during youth age, and then engaged in creation in Beijing Art Academy. She was not only taken the guide from the older generation of Chinese painting masters, but also influenced by the foreign excellent artists. The content and style of her paints were innovated frequently because of her continuous exploration. Her artistic experience is ralatively rich in Zhou sicong's lifetime, and her artistic thought is full of innovative spirit and rich emotion. The main difference from others is her responsibility of culture, and her enthusiasm, untiring efforts and struggle in painting also give people a deep impression. The Zhou sicong's life is short, but her paints and artistic thinking given to people are very rich. This paper attempts to show Zhou sicong's life full of frustrations and struggle completely, and to discuss and analyse her exploring progress of arts, and thereform summarize the relationship between creation progress of paints and artistic thought in her different stages, and then show the artistic thought and life of this outstanding paintress clearly.
