Rao Yuyan'artworks are based on his many years painstaking research for music composing technique and teaching experience. In his instrumental music, perfect combining of various Polyphony technique and full-bodied northwest geographical characteristics represents his distinctive music style. Mr. Rao is accomplished in'tone poem', a series of national orchestral music that take music as a carrier to show ancient poetry moods and reflect profound social condition, including tone poem-The Ode of Li Mountain, tone poem-Yu Men San, tone poem-Yu Lin Ling. They representatively show his diligent explorations on the road of music innovation.As an insight into the excellent skill how Mr. Rao handles Polyphony technology in artistic creation, tone poem-The Ode of Li Mountain is mainly analyzed in this thesis. The Polyphony thinking, artistic practices and multi-part music skills embodied in the work demonstrate the author's creative ideas in which he blends the Polyphony technique and northwest folk music characteristics perfectly.The first chapter of this paper outlines the integrated music style in The Ode of Li Mountain, and analyses the instrumental melodies, multi-part application and the inner structure of the music. Based on this, chapter II focuses on the Western Polyphony technique utilized in this artwork, and is the key section of this paper. Chapter III is the epilogue.
