Alternative Language Symbols Aesthetic Linguistics Research

Aesthetic linguistics is a rising discipline, whose object of study is conversations and speeches. It analyses and tries to explain daily speeches from aesthetic views, aiming at revealing how people as a whole construct language system and how individuals create their own speeches according to the aesthetic laws. The application of nonverbal signs is a matter of speech event and also nonverbal signs substituting verbal and written ones in daily conversation are means of communication that can't be neglected. Thus it's very necessary to study the nonverbal signs substituting language from aesthetic point of view. This thesis starts from and finally proves its ability of substituting language of nonverbal sign through analysis and summary from both synchronic and diachronic views. Based on the theory of aesthetic linguistics and with detailed study of nonverbal signs, the thesis probes the phenomena of nonverbal signs substituting language by reasons of human nature of pursuing beauty, the limitation of language usage and the substituting ability of the nonverbal signs etc. All in all, this thesis reinforces and supplements aesthetic linguistics.
