"NP + de + VP" structure ("vp" means verb, adjective or predictive structure) is very special one in Mandarin Chinese ,such as: "chang cheng + de + wei da ","yi si + de + biao da","zhe ben shu + de + chu ban"and "ta + de + xiao".We will study two respects of the "NP + de + VP" structure, i.e. the whole function of it and its internal framework. After investigated what sentence element the structure could be and the grammar character of its corresponding element, we indirectly found its duality, i.e. substantive and predictive. And then we investigated the structural composition of it and what structure style it belong to , especially the Grammar characteristic and the Semantic characteristic of "VP" in the "NP + de + VP" structure .Finally we found : When "VP" appear in theposition of "NP + de + __" , it also appears dual characteristic , i.e. substantiveand predicative. After contrasting "Attribute mark theory","Head mark theory","Nominalization mark theory" and "Decorated mark theory", we found the last one is more rational and more feasible than others to explain the function of the " de " in the structure "NP + de + VP". Its function is to change "NP" into "NP + de" structure in order to decorate "VP". The relationship between "NP + de" and "VP" is limit and limited, so " NP + de +VP " is modifier-noun phrase. At last, we contrast "endocentric theory" and "head theory", not only enumerate their common characteristic, but also analyze their differences. In any case, "VP" is the centre of the "NP + de + VP" structure.
