When we look at the developing history of Traditional Chinese paintings, the Northern Song dynasty is a vital transferring period .In the painting cycle of the Northern Song dynasty, there existed many great and famous painters .However, Li Gonglin hold a leading role who was a significant painting-star not only in that era but also in the whole history of Chinese figure paintings. Then he became another great master of Chinese figure paintings after Wu Daozi. His line drawings for folks were full of the fluency, changes and his artistic works were good at expressing deep meanings, describing individuals facial expressions and displaying the abstract content. Especially his unique drawing methods, so-called the simple, straightforward drawing style, rolled the poem's mood into his paintings .So his figure's drawings developed greatly.From different angles this article discussed Li Gonglin's drawing styles as well as the creativity in drawing .
