Hu Qian Academic Research

Hu Qian was a scholar parallelly famed with Qian Dazhao and Chen Zhan during Qianlong and Jiaqing Period.Because Hu Qian was others'aides and staff in all his life and most of his works were inscribed by others'names,.Xie Qikun's Poems Collection of Shujing Hall and Articles Collection of Shujing Hall which can directly prove Hu Qian's academic contribution could be seldom found.Though Dongfang Shu figured out the academic contribution made by Hu Qian, however, Hu's academic position hasn't been acknowledged by the other scholars, not to mention the thorough research and evaluation of his academic activities and thoughts.The main purpose of this paper is to, by examining Hu Qian's birth family background, life, social intercourse and works, acknowledge Hu Qian's academic position and discuss the academic values of his works, as well as the significance and values of shogunate academy which is represented by Hu Qian.This paper mainly adopts the basic examining and comparing methods. Achievements made by this paper mainly lie in: First ,by collecting and collating the materials of the local literature involved Hu Qian and the record given by his teachers and friends, and systematically analyzes Hu Qian's family background as well as analyzes the characteristics of his family schooling. Second, to exam Hu Qian's five academic periods: To be Weng Fanggang's aides and staff,to be Qin Ying's aides and staff,to be Bi Ruan's aides and staff,to be Xie Qikun's aides and staff twice. Through the examination, this article has cleared the time when Hu Qian was others'aides and staff and main academic activities and social intercourse of every Hu Qian'academic periods. Third, the article has successfully and systematically examed Hu Qian's main academic activities and classified them according to Poet-friends, Learner-friends and Scholars lagging behind , as well as simply introduced each of his academic friend's communicating activities and academic achievements. Fourth, examined the writing achievements of Hu Qian's main works, especially examed the works written by Hu Qian but inscribed by others; names ,examed the writing time, main versions and main contents of Book of West Wei, Exam of Xiaoxue, Exam of History Record , and General History of Guangxi, then discussed the academic value of these works. Fifth, By summarizing the academic activities of the scholars who was others'aides and staff represented by Hu Qian ,discuss the main contribution of the shogunate academic during Qian-Jia Period .Finally, analysis the reasons why Hu Qian was successful in academic by examing the development of the society , development of the academic, academic communication and personal efforts ,then discuss the academic status of Hu Qian.In all , Hu Qian was a promising scholar during Qian-Jia Period , who at least should have the same academic status with Qian Dazhao, Chen Zhan in Empire Qian-Jia Period, thus his academic achievements and status shall not be neglected.
