The thesis focuses on how James clears up the fallacies on pragmatism from the point of view of radical empiricism by analysis on misunderstandings to pragmatism. By that, the thesis explains why the radical empiricism is not only the core of James' philosophical thoughts but also a new creation, an idea on philosophy, which is a favorable solution generated in the process of resolving the problem caused by subject-object division. There are four parts in the thesis. Part one is the exposition of theoretical background and sources. Part two is the key component of the thesis which explains what is radical empiricism and how it comes into being. In this part, special attention is paid to how James founds the new philosophical school by applying the stream of experience and pure experience to sublate the traditional philosophical thoughts. It solutions to the embarrassed situations brought by the incompleted theoretical system. The radical empiricism excludes the chances for other philosophers to found new schools absolute and others. Radical empiricism is the further development of empiricism and it won't be difficult to understand that anti-religion and anti-rationalism are its necessity. Part three introduces James' meta experience, Husserl's meta life world and Dewey's raw experience and their relations. Part four is the intention of the thesis that is to unit James' radical empiricism and pragmatism, which are co-relative and inseparable, into a uniformed and completed system.James' thoughts of radical empiricism have its due value that is unique and creative, and it effects profoundly to the following generations, we should also be clear about that radical empiricism is an unripe one that needs working on, exploring and developing.
