Commonly Used In Modern Chinese Idiom Semantics Of Word Formation Framework For Analysis

The study on the idiom semantic word-formation frame belongs to the idiom word-formation research field. But for a long time, the idiom word-formation research is mainly launched from the syntactic angle. The idiom syntactic word-formation research regards the idiom structure with the syntactic analysis judgment, and groups the idioms into certain limited syntactic structure types, which covered the interior colorful semantic relations and hindered the deep research into the internal semantic structure of the idioms.Drawing lessqns from Gu-Yang Zhu-Yan and other scholars on the related research results of semantic word-formation of Chinese compound words, with the methods of the language materials statistics, we made a detailed analysis on the Semantic word-formation frame of the commonly used idioms in modern Chinese. This paper started a new way of the idiom word-formation research, which will play a positive role in knowing well the idioms, grasping accurately the generation of the idiom meaning and the consummation of the dictionary explanation.This paper discovered that, the idioms semantic structure can be divided into two groups of the noun-based structure and the predicate-based structure. The noun-based structure have three groups: the single noun-based structure,the double noun-based structure and the multi-noun-based structure.The predicate-based structure have two groups: the single predicate-based structure and the double predicate-based structure. According to internal components for the presence of subordinate or degraded argument structure in that the structure,the idioms semantic structure can be divided into two groups of the complicated structure and the simple structure. Among the 1830 modern Chinese commonly used idioms, the type of the noun-based structure contains 253 idioms and the type of the predicate-based structure has 1577 idioms.The frame can be divided into two groups of the simple frame and the complicated frame according to the frame ingredients,it also can be divided into two kinds of single frame and compound frame. in all existing analyzed frame types of 368 kinds, the simple frame occupies 80 kinds,the complicated frame 288 kinds. Combining and synthesizing all the frame types, we can obtains the basic frame type of 36 kinds in modern Chinese commonly used idioms.The differences between the idioms and the compound words in the frame, mainly be reflected in the following three points: Formation components diversification, diversification of frame types and complication in frame combination.In addition, we also discussed the main ways of the structure complication, the questions such as the hierarchy and the free degree in frame Combination.
