Ci-poems on Qingming(Pure Brightness)and Hanshi(festival beginning the day before Pure Brightness when only cold food was served for three days)in the Song Dynasty were the result of the mutual function of folklore and literature.They not only reflected the special national cultural nature of in the specific historical period,but also embodied the unique mentalities of the men of letters and the cultural features of the Song Dynasty.The paper tries to focus on a comprehensive research on the social conventions,cultural phenomena,the poets' psychology of composition,and artistic styles of the poems,reflected in the Song-dynasty ci-poems on Hanshi and Qingming. Starting from this point,the papers goes on to analyse the cause of the prosperity of ci-poems in the Song Dynasty,the individuality in poem composition and the cultural character of the Song-dynasty ci-poems,thus helping to discover and understand the nature,deep implication and artistic features of the ci-poems in the Song Dynasty.The paper is divided into the following four chapters:Chapter One offers an outline of the origin and development of the two folk festivals of Qingming and Hanshi; besides,it also gives a brief introduction to the social conventions and activities during the Hanshi and Qingming festive days.Chapter Two focuses on ci-poems on Qingming and Hanshi:first,it gives a general picture of the composition of such poems;second,it defines what poems can be included in this category;and third,it further explains the causes of the rise and fall of ci-poems on Hanshi and Qingming,based on a total of 317poems sorted out from the Complete Collection of the Song-dynasty Ci-poems. Chapter Three expounds on the social conventions and the psychology of the men of letters of the Song Dynasty,and analyses the humanistic indication of the ci-poems on Hanshi and Qingming in the Song Dynasty.Chapter Four deals with the artistic features of the ci-poems on Hanshi and Qingming,including their artistic styles and artistic techniques.The analyses are based on the comparisons and contrasts between the shi-poems on Hanshi and Qingming of the Tang Dynasty.
