The "17 years" novels of the realistic issue of the countryside, on the one hand continued the traditional attention of local novels to the reality, on the other hand strengthened this kind of attention under the political involvement, even the novel plot, subject, authors' value orientation all interconnected with the political changes. With the systematically internal analysis on the "17 years" novels, this article studied the narrative characteristics and limitation, by using the narrative method compiled with atmosphere of the current society, history, and culture.The "17 years" novels all told the stories about the countryside that after the founding of the nation. A consistent point including the political life and daily production in the countryside was formed by the narrators of the stories. The ten plot functions were generalized from the first chapter of this article. It was found that the novels were basically narrated depending on these plot functions, which included in the articles. The character images with the precise and prudent relationship existed in the key analysis and the plot functions. The four kinds of plot patterns were concluded in the second chapter based on the plot functions to study the characteristics of the structure of the novel: the parallel pattern combining the marriage and the cooperation, the pattern of pro and con to examples, the pattern of disciplinary punishment and the pattern of eulogy. The three narrative methods were discussed in the third chapter to explore the characteristics and reasons of the narrating ways of the novels by means of the conceptions of the narrator and perspective.
