School songs are the source of the modern music of our country. Looked upon from its art form, it can seem quite simple, or even na?ve or clumsy. But for its aesthetic standards, school songs are full of a rare artistic charm; some works are still fascinating even now. This essay tries to explain why school songs have this ever lasting enchantment, the source of this enchantment, and also answers the questions from three aspects. Firstly, school songs are good at putting new flavor into the ready-made tone of music. By expressing patriotic feelings, equality consciousness, and the innocence and playfulness of children, school songs gave new meaning that have never been expressed before. Secondly, by slight variations such as lyric filling, tone changing, school songs are good at adding Chinese charm to foreign music. Thirdly, school songs used a new way to sing chorus and therefore, created new artistic styles and aesthetic phenomenon. So, though school songs are just a short historical phenomenon, it links the traditional and the modern; draws both from foreign elements and native tastes; retains the old flavors, but also shows the new phenomenon. That is why, even after a hundred years, it can still give us special aesthetics enjoyment.
