Drama is a synthetic art of time and space. Time and space are also the most basic element in drama structure.Started with the time, which is an element of structure, this thesis will analyze the different appearance and varieties of time framework and study the function and meaning of time framework in modern drama script.Modern drama shows varieties of drama pattern and style reversing the traditional drama creative idea which delegated by Aristotle the poetics. Among of them, time as an element comes out varieties of framework patterns as the modern dramatist's revolt and innovation, which was brought to the drama of many different styles, has unique aesthetic effect. This article sorted out four types of representational time framework as study target. Each passage will analyze deeply via one or two representational drama scripts and explore how the dramatists achieve their artistic goals through the time element.Hope this thesis can make contributions to the contemporary drama.
