Category definition is the foundation of the study of Chinese poetics, literature, and aesthetics. Many definitions were made only based on part materials even a few materials .Therefore it is difficult to come to common understandings.in this thesis, we have occupied the most materials from the web and the books and found the clue of the development of the word "Qiyun" .We can get the ancient's understanding and the multi-analysis of the original meaning. We have summed up five main meanings of Qiyun in poetics, literature, and aesthetics.The first chapter we point out Qiyun history of development in China .It mainly occur in painting field . And when we open the painting history , we can find Qiyun is the important definition.The second chapter focus on the research results in the past and point out that the lack of previous studies.The third chapter first has analyzed the intercourse of QI character and Yun character .Then we can find that the Qiyun in many of the dynasty were like immortal and hermit, We analysis all of means of Qi and Yun , so we can find a few of this means should enter the field of literature, aesthetics and painting.The fourth chapter discussed the far-reaching influence of Qiyun.We can get the ancient's understanding and the multi-analysis of the original meaning. We have summed up five main meanings of Qiyun in poetics, literature, and aesthetics. At the same time in the aspect of content and art; The state can't be described because it is extremely pure and beautiful! It is the highest state of art. Perhaps it has some kind of sprit that can't be reached, but it is a kind of style worth pursuing forever.We should list all these five aspects to hold the meaning of Qiyun completely. We can also try to amalgamate the five aspects, which will be done in another thesis.
