"Qiyun" is the center and soul of the painting ideas by Guo Ruoxu, his proposition and connotation focused on the book named Tu Hua Jian Wen Zhi, mainly in "as the ’Qiyun’, will be known innately" and "if the one’s character is good, the ’Qiyun’of painting is truly great" the two ideological and theoretical discussion. The view of ’Qiyun’will be known innately and the one’s character decide to ’Qiyun’ to become the significant thought of painting theory and the highest guidelines of painting commentary for the thousands years in China.This paper is divided into four chapters. The first chapter observe and study the lifetime of Guo Ruoxu, family background of literary collection is a prerequisite to the formation of theoretical system of Guo Ruoxu’s painting theory; and then write up the view of ’Qiyun’ of Tu Hua Jian Wen Zhi. The second chapter analyze the form factors of "Qiyun" in Guo Ruoxu’s painting theory, there are four aspects of the direct effects including the development of "Qi" on pre-Qin Han Wei period; from Han and Wei to the Northern Song Dynasty for the interpretation of "Yun"; Wei Jin and Northern and Southern Dynasties "Qiyun" is proposed and "Qiyun" application in Tang and the five Dynasties. Also include four aspects of the indirect effects is the prevailing custom of "value spiritual and contempt shape" in the Wei and Jin Dynasties; the pursuit of "addressed to outside of the rhyme in painting" in the Tang Dynasty; the impact of "express the spirit" on literati painting and the influence of "new-confucianism". The third chapter explore the connotations of "Qiyun" theory in Guo Ruoxu’s painting ideology, including three sections:section one is carding "Qiyun" theory in Tu Hua Jian Wen Zhi by Guo Ruoxu. Section two is "as the’Qiyun’, will be known innately", including four aspects of analysis:put forward and build the "Qiyun innately" theory by confucianism, "Qiyun innately" theory penetrate into the field of Chinese painting and calligraphy, "Qiyun innately" theory:the new interpretation of Confucianism and Taoism ideology and the anxiety of "Qiyun innately" theory:"known innately" and "acquired learning". Section three is "if the one’s character is good, the ’Qiyun’ of painting is truly great", discussed by four fields. The first, the influence of the aesthetics of Zen:painting is a reflection of people’s hearts can reflect "Qiyun". The second, "Qiyun" is determined by the character. The third, "Qiyun" and character is out of touch. The fourth chapter is the last chapter, discussing the influence of Guo Ruoxu’s painting thought of "Qiyun" theory in Chinese painting history.
