Interjection is the most typical part in the category of language and feeling. Because of its diversified functions, such as drawing attention, expressing emotion, making semantic meaning apparent, intensifying rhetorical tone, bringing out speaker's style of speech conspicuously etc., it is very widely utilized in verbal communication in our daily life; meanwhile, since interjection plays the irreplaceable role in expressing characters feeling and characterizing image in literature, it is also used in the literature of colloquial style, such as, drama, movie dialogues and other videos.However, when we trace back to academic research history of linguistics, we have to say interjection hasn't sufficiently aroused scholars'attention, as a result of various reasons. And in TCFL, overseas students have difficulty in learning Chinese interjections. So it is necessary and practical for us to have awakened to its importance in the use of language. The comparative study of Chinese and English interjections have not only developed comparative linguistics of two languages, but also provided useful materials for foreign language teaching, translating and language learning between English and Chinese.As a special category in both English and Chinese, Interjection demonstrates flexibility and diversity. From the respective of pragmatics, the thesis attempts to chronically conclude and to categorize interjection definitions and basic characteristics, to compare semantic equivalences and the characteristics in phonetics, syntax and even, in culture and society by describing and analyzing, and to explore its open features in modern languages of English and Chinese. The author employs abundant, accurate language materials as examples from dictionaries or movie dialogues and videos to illustrate the above themes. In the discussing of each item above, the author utilizes detailed categories to do comparative research on differences and similarities.Relatively, the aim of the thesis is to offer a better and clearer understanding in interjection for Chinese learners and scholars in all aspects. So they can acquire more proper and more accurate comprehension to use or translate exclamations correctly without too many misunderstanding in communication, and improve their communicative capability in English and Chinese.
