This thesis aims to discuss the cultural exchange between Mongolian nationality and Han nationality through the comparative research on the characters in Yi Ceng Lou (Storey One), Qihong Pavilion and A Dream of Red Mansions. The research on Mongolian writer Yinzhannaxi and Cao Xueqin of Han nationality has been fruitful, while the comparative analysis of the character in the three books under the background of cultural exchange between Mongolian nationality and Han nationality has been very little. Therefore, based on the successful research of Yinzhannaxi, this thesis attempts to take a comparative research on the characters in Yi Ceng Lou, Qihong Pavilion and A Dream of Red Mansions under the background of cultural exchange between Mongolian nationality and Han nationality. This thesis is composed of four parts: introduction, chapter 1, chapter 2 and conclusion. In introduction, the thesis's significance, goal, the brief account of study of Yinzhannaxi's works and main research methods are introduced respectively.Setting from the background of cultural exchange between Mongolian nationality and Han nationality, Chapter 1 mainly discusses the historical roots of the culture that affects Yinzhannaxi and Monan Region from the three aspects: society, culture and writer.Chapter 2 is the main body of the thesis which studies the cultural exchange from the characters in Yi Ceng Lou, Qihong Pavilion and A Dream of Red Mansions. It is composed of two aspects: first, a comparative analysis of the main character Bei Puyu in Yi Ceng Lou, Qihong Pavilion and Jia Baoyu in A Dream of Red Mansions which is discussed in three parts: Part 1 is the study from the angle of victim of feudality; Part 2 is from the two characters' different idea towards imperial civil examination system; Part 3 is from their sense of social responsibility; second, a comparative analysis of the women in Yi Ceng Lou, Qihong Pavilion and A Dream of Red Mansions which is studied from four parts: Part 1 talks about the goal of "biography for young ladies"; in Part 2, the ability and wisdom and fine qualities of women are eulogized from different angels; in Part 3, women's pursuit for love and their resistance against feudal ethics are also eulogized; Part 4 reflects these young women's tragic fate caused by feudal society. After the comparative analysis of the characters in Yi Ceng Lou, Qihong Pavilion and A Dream of Red Mansions, we can get the following conclusions: first, Bei Puyu and Jia Baoyu are not the complete traitors of feudal society because the feudal ethics' influence on Cao Xueqin and Yinzhannaxi is deep-rooted, thus they can not exceed the limitation of their age; second, Yinzhannaxi inherited Cao Xueqin's progressive idea of caring for women. In his later works, namely in Qihong Pavilion, he points out one way of winning thefreedom of love and marriage for the oppressed women——escape thearranged marriage; third, Yi Ceng Lou, Qihong Pavilion do not just study and draw on A Dream of Red Mansions, they also combine the excellent culture of Han nationality and Mongolian traditional culture to create literature works with ethical characteristics. This thesis holds that the reasons of Yi Ceng Lou, Qihong Pavilion's success lies in that they not only inherit the strong points of A Dream of Red Mansions like the main idea, characters' shaping, plot and structure, but also combine the two nationalities' excellent cultures.
