Yuefu of the Han Dynasty is good at its description of the people's suffering while folk songs of the Bei Dynasty are mainly the description of northern ethnic characteristics. The reason is firmly related to the rise of metaphysics and the respect for Huanglao while the Southern ruling class also played a catalytic role when the South China's rapid economic development made the songs mainly for the city life which is pursuit of debauchery.
