This paper focuses on Li Zhi's comment about Rong and Tang edition as a logic starting point and at the same time explores through comparing the differences between the author of Rong and Tang edition and Guan Huatang edition in criticizing the novel TALES OF MARSHES from a historic angle. Besides it also confirms that Li Zhi, as a philosopher, his facial literal criticism is aimed at the sociology which covered by the corrupted government. While Jin Shengtan, a novel critic, mainly counter the artistry of the novel itself which is an inherent literal critical work. Being a member of the feudal ruling class, Li Zhi's criticism embodied their different opinions while Jin Shengtan should have served for his own bottom intellectual class when the class and nation contradiction intensified dramatically. Yet he pointed his criticism to the collective uprising group which is the same with his class due to the influence of the mainstream ideology assimilation and the psychology of pursuing stableness. It seems to be conservative for him to lean politically towards his opposing side. And it also shows the contradiction that on one hand Jin thinks himself a feudal literati from the subjective spiritual sense and on the other hand he thinks himself belongs to the proletariats who have a few material wealth objectively. Meanwhile he held a strong radical attitude on arts. Through elucidating the concept of the Chinese phrase"YI WEN YUN SHI" which means the historians wrote the histories happened before to form an orderly version that has the unified logical history and sense according to the principle of the actual record and " YIN WEN SHENG SHI" which means the authors made stories to form an orderly version that has the unified logical sense and character according to the fiction principle which is constituted by characters, he made a clear clarification about the connotation of novel and history in his ages and set up his own foundation in the theory of the novel critics. Then spontaneously and enthusiastically entered his art criticism field in which he clearly put the characterization and plot construction in the first place. He conclude three universal theory of characterization methods under which supervision Jin fully explored the character's characteristics and pointed out the unique reasons about the formation of the characters as well as some other more deep and mature opinions. As for the plot construction, acknowledged by the principle that the plot construction belongs to and served for the characterization Jin clearly and accurately discussed the key problem by analyzing the construction logic and detail dealing methods of TALES OF MARSHES through ma-microscopic view and finally formed his unique angle and theory.The inherent characteristics of the target criticism TALES OF MARSHES which are actually the Biography characteristics accumulated by writing from generation to generation and the applied way in criticizing poetry and prose, as well as Jin's conservative philosophy and political tendency caused some mechanical and backward parts in his critical theory. However, generally this kind of criticism has reached the climax at that time. It also has great influence on the late comers Zhang Zhupo, Mao Zonggang even Zhi Yanzhai.
