Then based on analyzing the changes of narrating fashion and function of folk narrative in the film and TV series adaptation, the article further reflects how the adaptation functions in reserving, enriching and rebuilding the folk narrative roles. The article contains three chapters:Chapter One takes the folktale Mulan for example and interprets the definition and characteristics of folk narrative. Then it simply analyzes the relationship between its development and textualization. Finally it focuses on the narrating features of the film.Chapter Two makes close reading of several representative films that are adapted from Mulan story. This chapter aims to represent how the traditional story changes in the film adaptation through the aspects of narrating fashion and culture.Based on the analysis of Chapter Two, Chapter Three generalizes the different types of transformation in the adaptation and the reasons that cause such changes.
