Encyclopedia is a kind of literature which comes out under the background of Chinese traditional culture, it's main features is encyclopedic compilation. It is a book compiled with the literatures or the datas in the literatures by their content or organized system, and some of them just compiled with the copies of those literatures. The existing encyclopedia which relatively complete and famous are list as follow: compiled by Yu Shinan(558--638), compiled by Ou Yangxun(557--641) under the command of Gao Zu, compiled by Xu Jian(659--729) under the command of Xuan Zong and compiled by Bai Juyi(772—846).All those books were called as four encyclopedia in Tang dynasty by the later ages.Yuebu in the four encyclopedias in Tang dynasty, which are classified by category, became the important text material to research the musical aesthetic of people in Tang dynasty with the feature of encyclopedia. This paper not only continue to use previous methods of the philology and bibliography, but also introduce a research perspective of ideological history, which is guided and enlighted by Mr. Ge Zhaoguang, in order to observe the imagined and controlled musical knowledge by people in Tang dynasty and the order, standard, and boundary in the world of musical thought through the analysis and the research on the classification system, content and thought of composition of the Yuebu in encyclopedias in Tang dynasty. The findings observed above all reflects a significant paradox which is generally formed between the musical aesthetics of Confucian conservatism and the open, pluralistic aesthetic practice of music in Tang dynasty, this suggests us a special phenomenon, which is disjoint coexistence of the domain of public life effected by confucian spirit concerning the worldly affairs and the domain of personal life effected by the buddhist and taoist spirit concerning the worldly affairs. Bai Juyi, the compiler of BaiShiLiuTie, Yuebu, the representative of literatis who have deep relationship with music in Tang dynasty, undoubtedly became a classical specimen to anatomize the conflicting aesthetic concept for us. Nowadays, the research results about the Yuebu in encyclopedias in Tang dynasty are not many in the academic circles, and the discussions about the observation and research on the pluralistic musical culture landscape from the perspective of ideological history are even rare. On the basis, the formed understanding to the problem of ChongYa and Aishu in aesthetic thought of the Yuebu in encyclopedias in Tang dynasty has been never heard. Although the existence of aesthetic form has been noticed by observation and research in other ways, they are just proposed as questions, This paper will make profound significance on aesthetic and ideological history through analyze and resolve the problems under the background of the ideological history in Tang dynasty with the help of Yuebu in encyclopedias in Tang dynast.
