Students Jealous Of Scale

As a matter of the cultural differences,eastern and western researchers have different explanation about the definition of the jealousy.Western researchers define jealousy as "A complex of behaviors,thoughts,and emotions resulting from the perception of harm or threat to the self and/or the romantic relationship by a real or potential rival relationship".Under the Chinese background,jealousy is conceptualized as a complex emotion involving shame anger resentment that occurs when is inferior to others in respects of ability position or reputation. Western researchers are inclined to explain the jealousy in terms of love and jealousy covers a wider field in china.Western researchers developed several scales for instance personal relationship jealousy scale and self-report jealousy scale through their definition.These scales had good validity and reliability and are suitable for Chinese subject but they are only fit for measuring the romantic jealousy and the relationship jealousy by which other styles of jealousy are not measuring.It is necessary to develop the scale under the Chinese background.As a matter of the problems mentioned above,our research studies the jealousy in the College Students on the basis of the researches home and abroad.On the basis of the operative definition about jealousy,this study presents self-consciousness as a system of multi-dimension and multi-level mental function not a dimension function on the basis of the western definition. Jealousy is influenced not only by internal factors but also by external factors.How many types of the jealousy are decided by the events and occurrences in one's life.Through the study of the events and occurrences in the College Students' life,a theoretical dimension of jealousy was constructed.The scale consists of 62 items and 6 subscales(study jealousy,interpersonal relationship jealousy,romantic jealousy,appearance jealousy,financial condition jealousy, employment jealousy).Based on the former researches and open-ended questionnaires,the Jealousy Scale of College Students is developed by means of the knowledge about psychology and suggestions of the specialists and scholars.Through explorative factor analysis and confirmative factor analysis,the result showed that the Jealousy Scale of College Students had acceptable reliability and validity and is in line with the original hypothesis.
