The culture of family instructions has a long history which is the more important part in the Chinese traditional culture. In the late Qing Dynasty Zeng Guofan educated his brothers and children in the letters senting home, which developed the family instructions to a new pesk. Zeng Guofan's letters recorded his life about managing state and family affairs. It not only had the connotation to educate his children inheriting ancestral morality, but also had the time requirements to get survival and development. Zeng Guofan's letters are very important to research his ideas. Zeng Guofan's core value was ChengZhu's Confucianism but he also had the profound research on sinology, and in the meanwhile he studied many ancient ideologists' theory. He used ritual thoughts to manage state affairs and he hoped to improve people's moral to maintain the social orders, which could help to save the situation. He initiated to study western science and technology and launched Westernization Movement, which indexed china to the way to Modernization. He taught his children that the goal of reading was not getting official position but accumulating knowledge and improving personal qualities. In the family he asked his children to engage in labor and avoid extravagant life. Zeng Guofan's ideology was reflected in the letters to his family, so we should research these letters deeply to explore his true idea-face.
