Zheng Guofan was born in a landlord family in Tianping village (It is in Shuangfeng County now.) Xiangxiang County of Hunan Province in November26,1811(October11th in Jiaqing16th year of Qing Dynasty). At the age of six, he began studying at school. When he was nine years old, he read the" five classics". At the age of fifteen, he studied more classics with his father Zeng Linshu, such as "Zhouyi", Records of the Historian" and so on. Then they studied the Confucian classics and take the exam together. Zheng Guofan had taken part in seven examinations, and passed Tong test in Daoguang13th year. The next year, he took the Xiang examination and had the certification to the next exam in the capital. But this time he failed. He didn’t give up and went on trying. At last, he succeeded in Daoguang18th year. In April of the same year, he took the Temple re-examination and had won the top forty-second place. He has received the title of Jinshi.In Zheng Guofan’s ideology, education and learning, cognitive and political thought is closely linked to the. He was born in troubled times, although scholars origin, but to the rise and fall of nations armored battle turn back the powers of darkness, his ideas as their own and social change. His thought mainly inherited from Confucianism and Neo-Confucianism, and extensively absorb the Legalist, Mohist, Taoism and other schools of thought essence, become China’s modern history of feudal culture epitomizing, in addition, he also conform to the trend of the times, learning western learning, is the active advocate of Chinese-style westernization".His family education is different from the others, content great legist,cover and contain everything, which includes not only the traditional moral and intellectual education, including physical health education and exercise, can say he is promoted by the moral, wisdom, all-round development of education. He is very pay great attention to the talents, has a wide network and careful appointment of talent, and the selection, training talents as the late Qing government to save a kind of effective method, he is more good at cultivating, incentive for talents. He is the purpose of home education is no longer the Chinese traditional concept through reading to authority, but hope that the children can become intelligent and reasonable person, this educational purpose can be said that the Chinese ancient family education history rare and unique. He not only focus on the cultivation of man, also attaches great importance to women’s education, to the man arrangement course but also to the woman developed a detailed timetable, and often for inquiry and teaching. According to his own previous learning and experience, summed up the " speed"," skilled"," perseverance "," think" four word study method to encourage children, in the hope that they can get twice the result with half learning.
