This paper aims at exploring the reasons why the images of the unworthy sons presented massively in the realistic novels of Qing Dynasty by analyzing the related literature materials, and trys to capture the sense of social crisis hidden in the works.Chapter one discusses the background of the appearance of the images of the unworthy sons. In the first episode, it cards the images of the unworthy sons appeared in the realistic novels, meanwhile restricts the discussion scope to three novels: The Story of A Marital Fate to Awaken the World, Qilu Deng, Dream of the Red Chamber. The second episode and the third episode analyze the reasons why they appeared massively in the novels of Qing Dynasty from the angle of social evolution and novel development.Chapter two analyzes the reasons why the unworthy sons often appear in a rich or official family. The first episode discusses the relationship between superior family condition, unsuitable family education and the appearance of the unworthy sons. The second episode illustrates the negative impact coming from the school education and the social education.The third chapter discusses a special kind of the unworthy sons—Jia Baoyu. In the first episode, it firstly illustrates the common places between Jia Baoya and other unworthy sons from four aspects. Then, it shows the difference between them in essence. Episode two discusses the reasons why Jia Baoyu is so special.The fourth chapter analyzes the unworthy sons'different life endings which are set up by the novelists. Episode one combines novelists'special experience to analyze the origin of the sense of social crisis. Second episode is set up to illustrate the invalidity of the prescriptions that the novelists provided in their novels.
