Metacognitive strategy is a higher-order executive skill which involves an ability of consciously using metacognitive knowledge to plan,monitor and evaluate the learning process among all the learning strategies.Lots of scholars home and abroad have studied metacognitive knowledge for nearly 30 years.WenQiufang have studied the relationship between the learning ability and metacognitive.YangXuelian,Fangkai and YangShanjiang have brought the matacognitive into English listening teaching. They found a new way to study listening teaching.However,the using of metacognitive strategy in ELT in Vocational College needs more and deeper research.A survey is done At the beginning of this thesis,which is on the current situation of learner's metacognition in a vocational college.And a problem is found that the learners run short of proper metacognitive strategies and their English listening level are lowlihead.Next,the author briefly discourse upon the knowledge and theory of metacognitive and its boosting effect in listening teaching.At last,according to the teaching practice the author designed the training of students' metacognitive strategies to enhance listening English learners' self-controlled learning ability.After training the students can learn independently so as to maximize the performance of listening English learning.In order to cultivate students' metacognitive ability better,the author of this disquisition trys to make a study of how to cultivate the students' metacognitive strategy in ELT by focusing on listening at Chemistry Industry Vocational College, Henan University of Technology.The study on the students majoring Business English is based on the experiment carried out for 15 weeks.The study mainly discussed two aspects:1)In what general situation do students use metacognitive strategy at Professional and Technical college? 2)What are the effects of the training on actual listening performance? This experiment on the application of the cultivation of the students' metacognitive strategy demonstrated that the training was effective and enhanced the students'listening understanding.The study achieved ideal results.Data from the analyses suggested that the training of metacagnitive strategies enhanced students' metacognitive awareness and improved their listening level.It will play an important role in ELT integrating metacognitive strategy training into the English classroom which lacks of language environment very much.
