Based on the examples of adapting Foreign Classics into Peking Opera in Shanghai these years, this article is going to reveal the laws and lessons of the artistic creation in drama. Some successful performance instances are illustrated here, such as opera "Peer Gynt", "The Merry Wives of Windsor", "Hamlet". Although the current practice in this area is still in experimental status, which is a relatively new subject, and fresh things often have a greater controversy, yet "Practice is the sole criterion for testing truth".The repertoires discussed in the article are all with great theater effects and audience recognition, and were also deeply touched by the mass for the "combination of Chinese and Western" of these art crystallization. Practice has proved that the laws of adapting western theater drama into Chinese Opera could be found, as long as the accurate meeting point is made to combine the essence of the original contents with ontology ingenious of the opera, and the traditional elements and modern elements are integrated in a unified creation stage. Therefore, it can be accepted by modern audiences, and a new glory for the originals could be shown.
