The well-known French composer Joseph-Maurice Ravel is among the most outstanding representatives of the Impressionism composers. Ravel strengthened the expressive force of the Impressionism music. His thinking involved in compostion is even more well-knit, and simple. While inheriting the traditional composition techniques, he also developed his unique musical languages and forms. Ravel is the recognized master of orchestral music. His orchestral works are very innovative in terms of their compositional techniques, besides, his orchestral music gives the colour of orchestral music a full paly.The writer takes Ravel's techniques of creating images through orchestral sounds as researching target. Supposing that the approaches to recording those sounds should be score, which carries the composite textures. The writer looks at Ravel's inheritance and development to the traditional techniques in constructing orchestral music texture.so as to find out his understanding of the orchestral sounds as well as the connections and differences between Ravel's texture and traditionally similar textures; the writer also makes a concrete analysis to the use of the composite structurual texture from many-sided perspectives, include the basic concept, the gist of form, the modes of use, the development of skeletion , the character of sound, in hope of offering some significant references to other related researchers.
