The study is based on the information processing theory of Cognitive Psychology and the Chinese characters Orthographic theory, and uses the experiment method in Experimental Psychology, the character glyph decomposition ability of foreign students was investigated by identifying four types of character glyph .Research mainly has: the students ability to identify Chinese glyph decomposition when it is bud, development and maturity; whether the students ability to identify Chinese glyph decomposition is influenced by their language background ;whether there exists differences among different language background students in character glyph decomposition ability. This study also aims at viewing the consciousness of structure types and components by identifying the Chinese character glyph decomposition . And we hope the study is helpful to the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language.The study can be summarized as following six parts: the first chapter, research problems and related research paper. Introduction of research background, The main problems are studied in this paper, Theoretical background and the existing related research. The second chapter , the experiment for Chinese students in the laboratory. Divided by the selection of materials, Experimental design, Experimental procedure, The analysis of experimental results and the conclusion, etc. The third chapter , the experiment for foreign students. Including experimental method, process and the experiment results is analyzed. The fourth chapter , the comprehensive discussion. such problems are discussed ,Including the characteristics of characters glyph decomposition, the development of Students ability to identify the glyph decomposition in four types of characters , the differences between Different language background students ability to identify Chinese glyph decomposition. The fifth chapter, the experimental results and the enlightenment for teaching. Summarize the experimental results, and puts forward the enlightenment for the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language. The sixth chapter is about the shortcomings in this paper and the problems to be studied further.Using the same experiment method, with Chinese mature native speakers as reference, the experimental results of different levels of Chinese and language background, the foreign student's character glyph decomposition recognition ability investigated, some conclusions: 1. Chinese characters glyph decomposition and components recognition ability of foreign students is a process of gradual development, they need to experience from initial stage, the development process of expansion to maturity, the process requires a year and a half to two years. 2. compared with mature native speakers, foreign students of different Chinese level in four types of characters glyph decomposition show the similar characteristics , zuoyou structure is the best, then baowei structure, and shangxia structure is better than zonghe structure. 3. The study found that the background of the native language influences the ability to identify the decomposition of the Chinese character glyph, that is to say , the learners of character-using background perform better than the learners of non-character-using background, but the influence of the background is limited. In addition, foreign language background does not affect the decomposition characteristics of different types of characters, the learners of character-using background and the learners of non-character-using background have no significant differences in four types of characters glyph decomposition .
