This thesis includes three Chapters, and roughly 450,000 words. The summary of each part is provided as below.Chapter one reviews the history and development of relations between central government and local authority of Xinjiang from the Western Han dynasty to the end of Qing dynasty by which we learned that Xinjiang has been under the jurisdiction of the central authority in this period. And then it analyses the relationship between central authority and local regime in Xinjiang from the reign of Yuan Dahua to Yang Zengxin which is characterized as power struggle. After that it mainly analyses the development of relationship between central authority and Xinjiang local regime in Yang Zengxin stage. The attitude Yang Zengxin took toward the central authority was that he only acknowledged the central government but he did not care about who is in power. He actually rules Xinjiang autocratically. Finally, it analyses the relations between central authority and local regime in Xinjiang which have been changed when the "7·7 Coup" broke out. After that, Xinjiang local regime underwent from Yang Zengxin stage to Jin Shuren stage and central authority underwent from Beiyang Military Government stage to Kuomingtang government stage.Chapter two is the analysis of the background, reasons as well as the influence of "7·7 Coup" in Xinjiang so as to investigate the conditions of the relations between central authority and the local regime in Xinjiang.Chapter three mainly analyses the truth of "7·7Coup" and it is also the conclusion of this thesis. There are so many views on the question of who is the murderer in this assassination. The author draws the conclusion in the thesis that Fan Yaonan is the real murderer in the assassination. In the last part of this thesis, the author concludes the characteristics of the relations between central authority and local regime in Xinjiang.This thesis focuses on "7·7Coup" and mainly analyses the relationship between central authority and local regime in Xinjiang from 1912 to 1928. As far as central authority is concerned, it can be divided into two periods, Beiyang Military Government stage and Kuomingtang Government stage; Local regime government underwent two periods too, Yang Zengxin stage and Jin Shuren stage. The purpose of this thesis is to have a comprehensively and profoundly understanding of the "7·7Coup" in Xinjiang by analysis of relations between central authority and Xinjiang local regime from 1912 to 1928 and have a better understanding of the characteristics of the relations between central authority and local regime in Xinjiang by analysis of the background, reasons and its influence of "7·7Coup".
