The Cold War is a status between U.S and Soviet Union after World War II, which both party intended to anti-containment with each other. It is the international relations between two parties and also an international system from the year 1947 to 1991. The Cold War continued for more than four decades after World War II. It significantly impacted countries around the world and even the development of the international pattern. The Cold War has been a concern in the academic community in many countries. Scholars in the U.S started the research work about Cold War in a very early stage and they published a large amount of related literatures, they also created a number of schools in doing Cold War research work. The research work about Cold War in China started relatively late compare with scholars in the U.S, and has been strongly impacted by the view of the Soviet Union. Due to the seclusion before and during the"Cultural Revolution", relevant research information is hard to approach, so the research on"Cold War"is extremely weak in China. By the time end of 80's and early 90's, 20th Century, with the disintegration of the Soviet Union and its camp, international academic scholars approached the climax of researching the Cold War. With the trend of deep investigation about Cold War in international academic study, Chinese scholars have also begun to join this research field. They translated and published a number of literatures wrote by foreign scholars and politicians. Based on first-hand information, by using history materialist approach, Chinese scholars also started their own research on some major historical events especially the issues related to China. Due to the solid research work, Chinese scholars achieved numerous research results with highly academic value. No matter the Cold War research study was done by Eastern or Western scholars, they have academic values, and more important, they have practical significances. Because scholars from different countries has not yet reached a consensus about a number of issues in Cold War, so there are differences when they interpret today's international issues. This article is using text analysis methodology. The author is aimed to recall the history about the research status in a number of issues about the Cold War which lasting for more than half a century between the academic community at home and abroad, the East and the West. Author also makes a comparative analysis about the view and cause between Eastern and Western scholars: differences and similarities.
