Su Baozhen Pastels, Bird And Flower Painting Techniques And Aesthetic Features

Mr.Su Baozhen is a famous artist painting flowers-and-birds in our country.In 1943,He graduated from the Fine Arts department in the Central University majoring in traditional Chinese painting.During the process of more than half a century,He has trained a large numbers of great artists for the country and has made great achievements in the enjoyable white flower-and-bird in free sketch.He has inherited the drawing techniques and the artistic spirits from the famous modern artists,such as Ren Bonian,Xu Beihong,Zhang Shuqi and so on.In particular,he had a deep study about how to make use of the white to express the birds' shape,color and its spirit in the Zhang Shuqi' flowers-and-birds painting.Furthermore,he also adopted the techniques dealing with light and color from the western painting to create lots of vivid,colorful and well-recognized works which imposed a special image of birds and flowers.This thesis intends to analyze Mr.Su Baozhen' drawning technique in painting the birds and flowers.explore its aesthetic characteristics in order to make up for the theoretical study gap of Mr.Su Baozhen' birds and flowers paintingThis study is divided into three parts as following.Part one is a brief introduction which talks about the reasons of this study,the literature review, the significance of this research,as well as the definition of related concepts.Part two analyzes the techniques of white flowers-and-birds in Su Baozhen' free sketch. Through the literature review and image research,this part discusses the usage of color,the painting techniques,instruments and materials in painting the flowers,birds,leaf in Mr.Su Baozhen' birds and flowers painting,and finally summarize the particularity which is presented in birds and flowers painting.Part three intends to discuss the esthetic characteristics of Mr.Su Baozhen' Techniques of Flowers-and-Birds in Free sketch.First of all,it makes an effort to reveal the formative reasons of Mr.Su' techniques in painting flowers and birds from three perspectives.Then it inclines to embody its esthetic principles with both form and spirits and finally analyzes its esthetic characteristics.Mr.Su's painting regards the colors as its main body,combines idealistic painting and realistic painting and arrives at a new level in using white in traditional free sketch of flowers-and-birds,so Mr.Su made a positive contribution to the development of the free sketch of flowers-and-birds.The purpose of this study is to provide some effective enlightenment and reference for studying and developing the free sketch of flowers-and-birds and to encourage the creation and teaching of the free sketch of flowers-and-birds in Southwest.
