Tempera as an ancient painting technique may at least trace back to 6- C.D Byzantine murals. with Its increasing development and prosperity in Italy, in the fifteenth century, Van Eyck invented a skill of combination Tempera with oil painting.at the same time ,The study of the priming of tempera also acquired crucial progress.This article compared and analyzised the material of the primers of tempera works in different periods and the influence of ground on works.at last, introduced some new ways of making tempera priming.Ancient European wet and dry murals all belongs to gum paintings.Egg and casein are important tempera color adhesive.At that time ,the priming of murals used tempera as ground.water and oil tempera are both the mainest materials before the sixteenth century.Today tempera technique are still popular in the world ,A great number of new materials make it possible to innovate the primers of tempera.too,make tempera painting have more representing approaches and visual language patterns, It is helpfulfor us to inherit and develop tempera painting skill...
