Causative usage is commonly found in ancient Chinese grammar. It is referenced in the book of the Start of Chinese Grammar which is written by Chen Cheng Zee. For decades, scholars of modern Chinese law have also been doing some research to fragment the use of the relevant issues. In my thesis, the work is to recall the basis of these studies, to combine dozens of the modern works. We make the modern Chinese verbs and adjectives as the research object which we in accordance with the verbs and adjectives of the semantic features of their classification, from the syntax, semantic and pragmatic analysis of three aspects of modern Chinese. At the same time, we also explore the use of law to make a different in the modern Chinese style as well as the distribution method used in modern Chinese, the distribution of different stages, trying to classify and take the point of view of modern Chinese law to enable the use of a more comprehensive analysis.Besides,the introduction and conclusion of this thesis, the main body is from Chapter one to four. Chapter one is a brief introduction of modern Chinese law to enable the use of research, the thesis topics and the significance, the use of limited usage.In chapter one, we mainly introduce the method to make the classification with the Causative usage. We have to make "Modern Chinese Dictionary","Dictionary of Chinese verb usage", "Practical Chinese adjective dictionary" as the main basic references for our study. We divide the verbs into typical and atypical verbs in accordance with whether there is causative usage. Then we make the semantic features of verbs into five categories. They're Class Action, Class of psychological activities, changes in type, status type, status and type of change, combined with the dictionary in great detail.The main content of Chapter two is to analyze the characteristics of usage in syntax, semantics, and pragmatics aspects. In the level of syntax, we mainly describe the characteristics of the formation as well as the use of law to enable the establishment of syntactic factors. We mainly focus on the analysis of syntactic factors (object in front of causative verb and additional auxiliary verb composition before and after).In the semantic level, we introduce the semantic characteristics which impacts and constraints the semantic role (causative and make things) In the level of pragmatic, we focus on analysis to make use of pragmatic functions of law.In chapter three we describe the usage of modern Chinese style in different distributions. This chapter has chosen artistic style and political style as a description of the target body respectively. We make two kinds of verbs in the style of distribution based on the writings of a typical combination in the first chapter of the classification of the verbs .Based on the detailed analysis of the different types of this chapter we use quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis method. At last we conclude that the rate of usage of causative usage is quite high in political style. It is wide used in the categories of changing, as well as in the categories of state style. So the number of verbs appears more and more often. But the utilization rates of causative usage in artistic style are relatively low. It is highly used in type of psychological activity verbs and causative verbs which about changing.Chapter four describes the development of causative usage in modern Chinese in three stages new-democratic revolution, the three decades of New China, the new era of reform and opening up of the distribution. In the diachronic point of view , the use of a quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis method of combining the light of the actual corpus. we finally conclude that: to make use of modern Chinese law is getting higher and higher frequently, especially in the Analects of political style. In this chapter we sum up the deficiencies which exist in it and the idea to continue the study.
