| The TV series Soldiers Sortie shows the picture of the grass-root soldiers in peacetime with tortuous plots and veracious emotion, bringing about the innovative images of modern soldiers full of distinctive characters and severe affections. This paper focuses on the molding of characters in this series, starting from the new trials of this process on the background of martial series in China. Analysis is also carried out on the artistic means employed in the production, as well as the effects on narration and images, which is expected to bring possible enlightenment for the character creation in future martial series.This paper embodies four parts. Chapter I gives a picture of the trails and development for character creation in martial series in China. Chapter II analyzes new trials in this series: grass-root, inspiration and purity. Chapter III illustrates the artistic means harnessed such as comparison, detail depiction and character purification. Chapter IV discusses the effects in narration and character image back in the playwriting. |
