Narrative Poetics

The thesis gives a brief demonstration of the poetic character in the creation of art.First,as a poet chooses a 'language' to 'narrate',likewise an artist creates his works for narration.It's the quality of the "narration" that makes up the work's "character." An art work should obviously be treated as a first person expression of the artist himself.When an artist chooses art,he has chosen the way of "narrating".His purpose is not merely for "beauty," though it is often accompanied by beauty,but rather "revelation".Through narration,the artist infuses his once private experience into the art work,making it independent and mature.The thesis combining with the reasoning of Heidegger,analyzes the train of thought of the viewpoint that all art in essence is poetry.Heidegger claims that poetry is the expression of the obscurity of the existing being.As the clarity and obscurity of the existing being,the truth happens through poetic creation.All art is created so the truth of the existence itself can occur.Therefore, all art in essence is poetry.Thereafter this thesis will be placed within the progression of Chinese and Western Art,and relating it to characteristic artists and poets,including.[Direct translation from the Chinese,can't find subject]a simple analysis of Guoxi,Wangwei of China and Dante,Blake and Russel of the West.This will demonstrate the profound origin and the continuous development of the poetic character of art.Finally,integrating the contemporary situation of art in China,the thesis restates the necessity and inevitability of the "poetic art" thesis and,using several contemporary artists as examples,it calls for the return of poetry.
