As the Japanese ability arrives at a certain extent, the chance of contacting compound verbs is increasing. Although understanding the compound verbs which appears in a passage is not a problem, it is common that there is still a lot of confusion in practice. As the importance of the similarities and differences between the languages has been valued gradually, the study on the contrast and comparison with different language is increasing. This dissertation mainly analyses the similarities and differences between Chinese and Japanese, which is based on the nature, the characteristics, the classification, and the restriction on the combining of the front and the back of the result compound verbs in Chinese and Japanese.This dissertation argues about the nature, characteristics and the restriction on the combination of Chinese and Japanese through analyzing and sorting the data and a large number of examples on the view of the structure and the meaning of the result compound verbs in Modern Chinese (Beijing dialect) and Japanese. The author pays more attention on the contrast study of the similarities and differences between the two languages in order to make it clear at last.According to the definitions and standers of compound verbs and resultative compound verbs as well as a critique study of the previous classified researches on compound verbs and resultative compound verbs, chapter one presents a general discussion and summary and drives the arguments along the methods of the previous research.Next, in the second chapter, the analysis are based on the aspects of the structures and meanings of the setences (v1+v2) appeared in the Chinese logical structure setences. And draw the conclusion via the observation of the characteristics and limitations in it.The methodology used to discuss the Japanese compound verb in the third chapter is almost identity with which used in the second chapter, which is to summarize the results by analyzing the characteristics and limitations.In the fourth chapter, the author researched Chinese and Japanese form the comparison point of view. Their inherent nature characteristics and the similarities and differences between them are discussed. And the author also compared the restrictions in their classification and combination. Thus the similarities and differences between the two languages in compound verb are clearer. At last, the author makes a brief summary based on the above and raises several issues of the advancing research.
