Both Vietnamese and Chinese belong to isolated languages and have great similarities in grammar, but there are also some differences. For example, the classification of common verbs in Chinese and Vietnamese includes classification according to the meaning of verbs, classification according to verbs and physical properties, etc. However,in addition to the classification according to the meaning of verbs and the classification of verbs transitivity, the classification of common verbs in Vietnamese includes Independence classification. The literature mostly compares certain types of verbs in these two languages, but the comparative analysis of the classification of the two types of verbs from a macro perspective is very rare. This article compares and analyzes the verb classification between Chinese and Vietnamese, which can complement each other through the classification of verbs in these two languages..According to the meaning classification, most types of verbs in Chinese and Vietnamese are the same, but there are some verbs in Chinese, but not in Vietnamese, and vice versa. For example, there are no formal verbs, causative verbs, experiential verbs, etc.in Vietnamese studies, while few verbs are commonly mentioned in Vietnamese studies. When classified according to transitivity of verbs, the verbs in these two languages are similar, but there are some differences.Vietnamese is classified according to the independence of verbs, which can provide a new classification standard for Chinese. This article draws on the above-mentioned Chinese and Vietnamese verb classification standards to investigate and classify verbs in HSK1-6 vocabulary, hoping to deepen the understanding of verb classification in two languages and provide some help for the study of verbs in these two languages.
