The theory of error analysis a branch applied linguistics which initiates in 1960s and reach its full development till 1970s. what the theory of error analysis focuses on not only the error itself, but also on research of inherent features that errors mirror, then exploring the law of language acquisition, studying the theory of error analysis, and putting it into practice, which is of great significance to teachers and students.This thesis is divided into three chapters. Chapter One expounds the theory of error analysis in general, which concerns the concept of errors, the characteristics of errors and the classification of errors ,and makes a systematic discussion on the theoretical foundation of error analysis-the theory of interlanguage and other pertinent knowledge, thus laying a theoretical foundation for Chapter Three. Chapter Two outlines the researches on the application of the theory of error analysis in teaching home and abroad. Chapter Three relates to the case research of this subject, in which the author attempts to research the errors that students in Grade three in junior school make, analyzes the type and source of errors and puts forward the strategies that can rectify the errors and the recommendations on teaching. All these conducts just apply the theory of error analysis into the basic English teaching.
