Chinese character is the most ancient living ideograph. Oracle bone inscriptions, Chinese ideograph, originated from painting, so did hieroglyphics and cuneiform writing. While, the styles of oracle bone inscriptions, hieroglyphics and cuneiform writing are still so different from each other. Obviously, the origination of them could not answer this question.Nothing happens by accident. Everything has its own reason for existing and certain formative mechanism for borning. This process must be cooperated by multiple complicated elements; it's usually called"phylogenesis". We can search things'origination by the new discovery of archaeology, while we can reveal the phylogenesis of events by logical speculation. Therefore,"phylogenesis"explains the reason of objects'existence more clearly than"origination".The phylogenesis of Chinese character has unique internal formative mechanism. The physiological structure and evolutive sequence of human's brain is the objective elements. The imagery thinking of humanbeing is the base of phylogenesis of hieroglyphics. And different living environments make different styles among oracle bone inscriptions, hieroglyphics and cuneiform writing. As to the birth of every single character, the subjective factors play the key role in the process. Human's instinctive self-awareness makes the ancients measuring everything according to themselves, including creating characters. Meanwhile, the ancients'primitive belief endows each character rich cultural connotation. Under the co-effection of subjective and objective reasons, Chinese characters finally developed to this form today. It is a historical inevitability. It's irreversible and independent of man's will.It is universally accepted in the academic circle that Chinese characters and painting have the identical origin. As to the phylogenesis of Chinese character, there is still not monograph to analyze and exposit it. Just a few viewpoints and expositions about this subject immethodical scatter in some esthetics works. This article tries to make systematical expatiation on this subject, and raise some personal opinion about those characters which have uncertain formation viewpoints. This also is the article's worth.
