Bingxin is a famous writer and translator in the modern literatary history in China. Her achievements in translation have increasingly been paid attention to by scholars. Especially, her translations of Tagore and Kahil Gibran's poetry have been regarded as classical works in the country. After a close examination of her translations, the author discovered that Binxin's skills of or strategies of translation couldn't be simply classified in terms of "foreignazation and domestication" or "xin, da, ya ". Her translations of poetry have unique styles. Except from the introduction and conclusion, the thesis consists of three major parts. Part One discusses the main factors influencing the style of Binxin's translation; Part Two generalizes and summarizes her translation styles of poetry. This is illustrated through a larger number of examples cited from her Chinese translations of The Gardener, Gitanjali, The Prophet and Sand and Foam. Since the form of her translation must have specific conditions and processes, the third part explores the processes and conditions, with special reference to relevant theories of hermeneutics and influence study. Through the investigation, Binxin's unique translation styles of poetry have been clarified.
