Tang And Five Dynasties Food Goods Typical Study

The Tang and Song Dynasty has been through drastic changes, especially in the academic field, among which various economic works have been springing up. During the period of the Tang and The Five Dynasty, four important works of economic history, namely Jinshu Shihuozhi, Suishu Shihuozhi, Tongdian Shihudian and Jiutangshu Shihuozhi, which record the social & economic conditions and the reform of economic system, have been compiled. Those works become the most important materials for research on economic development at that time. Therefore, it is significant to make a comprehensive study on ShiHuoDian and Zhi in the Tang and the Five Dynasty.This thesis makes a study on the-above four important works of economic history during the Tang and the Five Dynasty. It deeply explores their contribution to history compilation and economic history development in China. This thesis first surveys the fulfillment of Jinshu Shihuozhi and Suishu Shihuozhi in the early days of Tang Dynasty. Then expounds the compiling of Tongdian Shihuodian by Du You in the Mid-Tang Dynasty. At last, it is a study on Jiutangshu Shihuozhi which is finished in the Five Dynasty. In the thesis, the author illustrates them one by one in terms of three aspects, namely, compiling background, compiling characteristics and the view on economic history. Then, it describes the distinctive compiling features of economic history works in different historical stages from the perspective of the status of Shihuo, compiling style, Shihuo popularity, material selection, etc.. What follows is a discussion of compilers'viewpoint on economic history based on the four works which are actually a miniature of care for citizens, great attention to agriculture, and"Learning from history"in the economic development.It is concluded that the compiling of ShiHuoDian and Zhi is actually a relationship of inheritance and development. It can be seen that economy is playing an important role in social development. Meanwhile, the compiling of ShiHuoDian and Zhi is improving better and better. What's more, from these works, we can see that the viewpoint on economic history is evolving continuously. Above all, the thought of these works in the Tang and the Five Dynasty has immense influence on compilation of economic history in the following times.
