The"ba"sentence whose object of preposition is generalized agent is rarely used in modern Chinese. It mainly functions as imperative, and is regarded as the minor part of the"ba"sentence system. There are two main kinds of predicates in this"ba"sentence. One is the verbs that do not contain the meaning of imperative, including both transitive and intransitive verbs. The other is the verbs and adjectives that contain the meaning of imperative.N1 don't emergency in syntactic structures, but they are necessary in the semantic.'V'are composed with three kinds of verbs: 1) mental and feeling verbs, 2) statement and action verbs, 3) moving and changing verbs. N2 could be animate nouns and pronouns in all most expect the third kind. It expresses the constructional meaning of that because of the caution, N2 have a non-volitionalitical and remarkable change, and the result may be reflected by the"V"and"C". According to the prototypical theory of agent and patient of Dowty, N2 have the ability of change but not the volitionality, and they also lose part of the agentive with receive some be-affection. They are the reflections of the constructional meaning. The"ba"sentence that is composed of bi-functional verb has many characteristics with others. In most case, it have no subject, the predicates has the meaning of factitive, the object is abstract noun which is non-individual. The complement is"le","qilai"or"xialai"which expresses the result of the change, in most time. The construction stressed the result and has subjectivity obviously, and has a use of extending the role of topic. Those sentences can be divided into two kinds. One can express the meaning of factitive, the other can express the meaning of factitive or disposal in different context because of the losing of factitive meaning. In neoteric Chinese, this type of"ba"sentence served not only as imperative, but as disposal and order. Meanwhile, two possibilities should be taken into account in the function of imperative. One is that VP itself holds imperative, and the other is that VP gives away imperative to"ba"sentence. In addition, metonymy plays an important part in these 3 functions of"ba"sentence. The forming of these three functions is signified by the elimination and weakening of some semantic features in different conditions, and the bleaching of construction meaning. Apart from imperative, the rest of the two functions gradually show the tendency of exclusion from the"ba"sentence, which is the result of their rare using in the system and, at the same time, frequent using of imperative meaning.
