Xiangxi The Longshan Tujia Waving Dance Of Contemporary Features And Functions

Hand-Waving Dance is the most representative folk dance of Tujia. Forthousands of years, it is in close touch with Tujia minority, records their culture,presents their styles, and further reflects their life changes. Right until today,Hand-Waving Dance of Tujia entered the modern development course again.Taking Hand-Waving Dance of Tujia in Longshan of West Hunan as the casestudy, compared to the traditional Tujia Hand-Waving Dance and the modern one,this paper find out and analyze the inheritance and variation in the danceactivities, dance elements, dance patterns and social function of dance betweenthem, so as to grasp the development law of the national folk dance in themodern society.This thesis mainly includes three parts. Based on the existing literature andthe results of previous studies, the first part combines the origin, morphologicalfeatures and functions of the traditional Tujia Hand-Waving Dance; combinedwith the collected information of the field surveys for the Hand-Waving Dance ofTujia in Longshan of West Hunan, the second part conducts the formation,morphological features and functions of the modern one; applying the theoryrelated to cultural structure including structural anthropology and culturalpsychology, the third part analyzes the inheritance and variation factors of themodern one, from the three levels of the dominant culture construct, theconception structure and unconscious psychological structure.
